[Photographs of sculpture in the Capitol Building] [ca. 1880-1890]

Collection consists of 25 photographs of details of the interior of the New York State Capitol building, and 2 photographs of architectural designs for the south side elevation of the eastern approach to the Capitol and the elevation of the eastern entrance and main gable. Most of the photos highlight the elaborately carved capitals on columns in the Capitol, and the corbels decorated with carved portraits of such famous individuals as Samuel de Champlain, Christopher Columbus, James Fenimore Cooper, Henry Hudson, Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, and Amerigo Vespucci. The photographs have been glued to brittle cardboard and on the back of most of them is written the name of the photographer, "F.G. Mather," and the notation, "Compliments of I.G. Perry." This is almost certainly Issac G. Perry, the State Architect for New York State from 1883 to 1899

27 photographs : sepia-tone ; various sizes.
